Google Doodle celebrates pioneering German chemist "Julius Lothar Meyer" who created first periodic table:
GOOGLE DOODLE-JULIUS LUTHER MEYER |
Julius Lothar von Meyer was a German chemist. He was one of the pioneers in developing the first periodic table of chemical elements. Both Mendeleev and Meyer worked with Robert Bunsen. He never used his first given name, and was known throughout his life simply as Lothar Meyer.Born in the town of Varel, Germany, on this day in 1830, Meyer was one of the two pioneers to discover the periodic law of chemical elements and develop the first periodic table.

Meyer published his seminal book Die "Modernen Theorien der Chemie"(Modern Chemical Theory), which included a rudimentary system for organising 28 elements based on atomic weight – a precursor to the modern periodic table, in 1864.Meyer was not alone, however, in the race to create a complete system as Russian chemist Dimetri Mendeleve was developing similar ideas of his own.

Lother Meyer used atomic volume vs atomic weight theory in his periodic table using a graph. One of the most demerit of his perioic table and success of Mendeleve periodic table was that his table was misarranged where as Mendeleve table was more precise and arranged.
Google's homepage features art of Meyer and his line chart on a chalkboard."Happy birthday Julius Lothar Meyer, and thank you for braving the elements for the sake of scientific knowledge!" Google said.
