In a major move, the Ministry of Information and Technology has banned PUBG Mobile and 118 other mobile applications. This is the third banwave that has hit the app industry after the government made similar moves in the past.
In a statement by the Ministry, "This move will safeguard the interests of crores of Indian mobile and internet users. This decision is a targeted move to ensure safety, security and sovereignty of Indian cyberspace.

“Government blocks 118 mobile apps which are prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, Defence of India, Security of State and Public Order,” the ministry said in a statement.
In June govt of India banned apps like TikTok, UC Browser, Weibo, Baidu Map and Baidu Translate saying they were prejudicial to sovereignty, integrity and security of the country, the same prompted desi version of the banned apps flooding the market. Banning of PUBG opens up loads of opportunity for local game developers to look at replicating similar gaming apps in coming days.
